British Newspapers, 1600-1950

Two collections, the 17th and 18th Century Burney Collection Newspapers and British Library Newspapers (1780-1950), make up the British Newspapers 1600-1950 database. The collection contains nearly three million pages and 40 million articles.

British Newspapers 1600-1950 contain an enormous resource for research on all subjects for all of the U.K., both urban and rural. Cultural trends, political currents and social problems are reflected in these newspapers and give new freshness and immediacy to historical events.
