Sections of First-Year Seminar (UCO 1200) and Expository Writing (ENG 1000) visited Special Collections recently to use our collections and expertise for course assignments. 

CQ Researcher report just released -- "Campus Sexual Assault"

Our database CQ Researcher is often a good place to start looking at a topic.  Each report contains charts, graphs, sidebar articles, a pro-con feature, chronology, lengthy bibliographies, and a list of contacts.  They address "hot" topics.

Scopus -- Trial Access through 11/20. Try it out.

The Library offers on-campus access to Scopus through November 20.  Scopus is an Elsevier product (like Science Direct), which can be used to find articles on your topic, articles that cite an article you've already found, and articles that cite you or an author you're interested in.  It is especially strong in the sciences, health sciences, and social sciences.  (I say articles, but Scopus has also added records for 75,000 books recently.)  The "Cited by" and citation analysis functions are similar to what is offered i

New Journal Access -- Journal of American College Health

We now have full access to current issues of the Journal of American College Health.

In the spirit of our Common Reading program book, Clapton's Guitar, and in honor of Wayne Henderson and Old Time music, try out the American Song database!

Historical Automobile Exhibit, 4th Floor

A new exhibit, "The Automobile as an Agent of Change," is now on display in the 4th Floor atrium in Belk Library and Information Commons. More than just a means of getting from one place to another, automobiles have brought great change to our economy, our culture, and our local surroundings and habits over the past century. This Special Collections exhibit explores this change through the lens of our collections. The exhibit will run through the end of November 2014.

NC LIVE Home Grown eBook Collection

Through NC LIVE, Belk Library is offering a new e-book collection of more than 1,200 fiction and nonfiction titles from eight North Carolina publishers. This "Home Grown eBook Collection" covers a wide range of interests such as biography, autobiography, education, family & relationships, adult and juvenile fiction, history, nature, performing arts, poetry, politcial science, sports, and travel.
