New Interface for Web of Science

Web of Science, a multidisciplinary database of more than 12,000 scholarly journals, is now providing access through a new interface. The Web of Science platform also hosts Biological Abstracts, Medline, and the Zoological Record databases.

New Library Databases

The library added the following databases over the holiday break:

Artemis Literary Sources: provides combined access to a new interface, with new features, to Literature Criticism Online (10 multidisciplinary series) and to Literature Resource Center.

Children’s Christmas Book Exhibit in Special Collections

A new exhibit, “Memories from Childhood:  Our Favorite Christmas Stories,” is now on display in Special Collections on the 4th Floor of Belk Library and Information Commons. The display draws on children’s literature relating to Christmas from the Historical Children’s Literature rare book collection and the W.L.

New eBook Database: OverDrive

Belk Library now offers the Appalachian State community access to OverDrive, a service which allows users to download ebooks and audiobooks to their favorite mobile device. Titles include popular fiction, study aids (GRE, LSAT, GMAT, CPA), travel guides, foreign language study audiobooks, and more.

You Need an e-Book about Food!

OK, maybe you need actual food too.  But an e-book about cooking or cuisine might be a great idea for the holiday.

 

Our new (tiny) Overdrive Collection has 18 books on cooking and food.  They can be checked out for 21 days.

Systematic Reviews -- Joanna Briggs EBP Database is available during November

 The Library has several good options for finding high quality systematic reviews in the health sciences.

During November and on campus only, we have trial access to the Joanna Briggs EBP Database.  It includes systematic reviews and other types of documents.  Everything is full text.  Try it and let us (wiswellj@appstate.edu) know what you think.

Medieval Exhibits on Display in Plemmons Student Union

What do Robin Hood, Jack tales, and castles have in common?  Find out in the two exhibits, "Medieval Folklore & Stories" and "Medieval Life," in Plemmons Student Union, now on display through October 8.  Library resources from Special Collections and the Instructional Materials Center related to the medieval period are on display just as the Southeast
