Planned Outage: Many Library Resources Unavailable Sept. 18

On September 18, the library will be making an important upgrade to its Integrated Library System software. This will unfortunately cause a service outage while work is being done.

From approximately 11am to 6pm on Tuesday, Sept. 18, the following services will not be available:

The Library Has a New Website!

The library launched its new website over the weekend. We are joining the many colleges and departments around the university using the content management system Drupal. This software makes it easier for us to update and maintain the library websites.

Give Us Feedback!

We would love to hear what you think of the new library websites. We are constantly working to make our sites easier and more pleasant to use. We will continue fine-tuning the site based on our users' feedback.

Beta Test the Library's New Website

The library is launching the beta phase of its new website today. We are joining the many departments and colleges on campus running a Drupal website. We're excited about the possibilities this software will give us to develop useful and fun new features to the library website.

We're implementing this beta phase in order to let our users test out the site before we replace the existing website. We'll be doing usability studies to make sure it's working the way it should. We'll also be listening to everyone's comments and fine-tuning it over the next couple weeks.

Belk Library on Pinterest - Follow our boards on Pinterest

Belk Library is launching our new Pinterest site -- just in time to celebrate the upcoming National Library Week (April 8 – 14).  Pinterest is one of the fastest growing social networking sites around today.  It combines the connectivity of Facebook with the capability of “bookmarking” all wrapped in beautiful visual imagery.  “Pinning” on Pinterest is like having a room full of bulletin boards--all on different subjects--where the user can “pin” pictures, links to websites, recipes, posters, etc. to the appropriate board to view and refer.

ASU's Favorite Books

In celebration of National Library Week (April 8-14), Belk Library will be gathering input from students, faculty, and staff about what their favorite books are. We'll be gathering entries via a form on the library's website, and then posting them on one of the library's Pinterest boards.

Suggestions for Kiosks

The Library Student Advisory Group met on February 23rd and offered some excellent suggestions for developing the kiosks.

Touchscreen Information Kiosks

The library has added new touchscreen information kiosks on each floor of the building. These monitors will give you instant, easy access to some of our most popular web tools:

  • Book group study rooms
  • View computer availability maps
  • Find events in the library

Our technology services staff is currently working on getting small printers attached to each monitor, so that students may print out confirmation slips when booking group study rooms.

Duplexing on Lab and Library Black and White Printers Set as Default

All public computers in campus labs and in the library are now set up to print duplex by default.  This setting is only the default on the black and white printers.  The color printer is still set to single-sided printing.

We are going greener...

Search Local First

The library made important changes to the catalog, which will affect how people search for books and other materials.
