Although electronic resources are available 24/7, even through university breaks, problems do arise. If your database, journal, ebook, or other resource fails to open or otherwise misbehaves, one option is to complete our Report a Problem form. You can access it by clicking on Report a problem, on the far right of Databases page.
Or you can just click here.
Our team troubleshoots these problems. Sometimes it's a problem on our end. Sometimes we need to contact our vendors. Sometimes it's a real puzzle, and sometimes a quick correction to a URL or checking a box will fix it.
The form allows you include your name and email, if you wish, in order to get a direct response. In general, more detail, enough to allow us to reproduce your problem, is good.
Many of of our streaming films are available through our catalog, but we also request others through Swank, Kanopy, Docuseek2, and other platforms. Many films are not available for library-friendly streaming, but you don't know until you check. See our guides to Streaming Video and Swank or ask us.
Google Scholar, on the Library's main page, is missing its Find @ AppState links. These links are sometimes the only way to access full text. Google appears to be slow in responding to this problem that is affecting all libraries, not only Appalachian.
Of course, Google Scholar offers many live buttons, so often the article titles and links on right column will give you full text.
Are you looking for a quiet, supportive place to finish those final essays? Come to the University Writing Center on Monday, December 5th and Tuesday, December 6th any time between 9PM and midnight for Just Write. In addition to a dedicated space for writing, you’ll have access to all our resources, including formatting and style guides for MLA, APA, Chicago Style and more. A writing center staff member will be present to answer quick questions or point you in the right direction.
In addition to Just Write, the writing center will be open for appointments and walk-ins during finals week. For more information about the writing center, please contact Amy Hansen at firstname.lastname@example.org or 828-262- 7835.
Who doesn’t need a little TLC during finals week? The library is sponsoring free activities and snack breaks designed to help students navigate the end of semester exam week.
Please join us for chair massages, therapy dogs, snacks, tech time out, and much more – just check the schedule!
