University of the Free State Collaboration

Appalachian State University Libraries have formed a collaboration with the University of the Free State to develop best practices in librarianship.  Departments within Appalachian State University have had a longstanding relationship with the University of the Free State since 2008; however, this is the first collaboration between the two libraries.

"We are so excited to be working alongside our colleagues at the University of the Free State. I look forward to meeting many of the people I've met in person hopefully in the near future," said Associate Dean, Kelly McCallister.

The project, "Developing Best Practices within Professional Librarianship" consists of several faculty and staff from both institutions working together to create publications, conference presentations and site visits.   The project began July 2022 when five teams met via Zoom to discuss topics such as diversity & inclusion, technology, information literacy, staff morale and digital initiatives and scholarships.
