Linking to Full-Text Articles From Library Databases

The library provides many full-text resources through subscription databases and electronic journal collections. You may provide a link from your Moodle documents directly to these materials.

Certain databases provide "stable" or "persistent" links (PERL) or "digital object identifiers" (DOI) for permanent access to these articles. Note that the DOI links will take you to the full citation with a link to the .pdf and/or .html file of the full document. If there are no stable URLs available, the link you create may not be available after your session. Instructions for linking to the stable URLs provided through some of our databases are available below.

Note: If you want students to access the materials off campus, the root URL must begin be 'wrapped' within the Library's proxy server address:

Full text is provided through links to third party vendors. Please follow the directions for that vendor's direct links.

ACM Digital Library

  1. Click on the "full citation" of the article to which you want to create a link.
  2. Find the "DOI Bookmark" below the article citation.
  3. Copy and paste the DOI Bookmark into your Moodle document-- wrapping the root url with the Library's proxy server address

  2. Verify that the article is in a journal that ASU subscribes to -- there will be a "S" in a black box next to the citation.
  3. Find the DOI (digital object identifier) listed below the citation.
  4. Copy and paste the DOI into a link that you create in your Moodle document, using the root url (dx.doi.org) for the DOI server, wrapping that root URL with the library's proxy server address.
