Library Services for Senior Scholars
The Institute for Senior Scholars (ISS) is a year round lifelong learning program.
- Membership include borrowing privleges at Belk Library and Information Commons.
- ISS members have the same library privileges as undergraduates.
- ISS members are entered into the library patron database on an individual basis at the circulation desk.
- To be able to borrow materials, they first must bring their ISS information card and their Appalachian State University ID to the first floor service desk.
- ISS members have an assigned number by the ID center, (technically not a banner ID number).
- The membership year begins January 1 and runs until December 31. It is a 3-semester year. Senior Scholars will have the choice of full year, 2 semester, or
1 semester memberships. For instance, those who join for our spring semester will only be eligible for library privileges from Jan 1 through
April 30.
To Renew: ISS members can renew materials in person, on the phone (828) 262-2818 or online.
On the phone, or in person,
the library can look up your account by your name, but we cannot tell you what is checked out on your card, and we cannot give you your ID number to look up your account.
To renew Online, you need your ID number.
The only place that can give you your ID number is the AppCard Office in Trivette hall, and they cannot release your ID number over the phone.
The AppCard office can be reached at (828) 262-6141.
