Please join us in congratulating Allan Duncan on his forthcoming retirement!
Allan started his position with the University Libraries in October 1991. He received his MLIS degree from UNC-G in 2009, after driving to Greensboro for five years.
He has done just about every job in the Technical Services/Resource Acquisition and Management areas including:
Bindery / Materials Processing
Copy cataloged Federal and State government documents
Managed and monitored E-Resources lifecycle workflow, discovery layers and EZProxy configuration file
Supervised and supported staff in the day to day process of ordering and receiving, invoice payment, and gift management
And finally as the Coordinator of Resource Acquisition and Management
Allan has persevered through four ILS systems and three migration projects, LS2000 to Millennium, to Sierra, and now ALMA. And also through multiple link resolvers and discovery tools - WebBridge, Full text finder & Ebsco EDS, to Alma. With the WNCLN Network Librarian, he managed and completed changing all of the library's hosted links from "http" to "https" protocols.
Dean Sue Polanka said, "I’ve always said that the technical services area makes up the infrastructure of libraries and that we cannot function or provide support without the great work of our RAM Team. Allan's job history tells that story for us."
Thanks for all you have done and best wishes on your upcoming retirement.
