In the University Libraries' ongoing commitment to enriching knowledge and preserving unique content, either through the scanning of rare materials or the ingesting of born-digital objects, the Libraries strive to ensure that valuable resources remain accessible for generations to come.
Since last year, the consumption of content created in digital formats has increased tenfold. This allows for the Libraries to host seven AppState journals on our open-access platforms, with more in production.
To ensure a secure, digital preservation platform, the Libraries have collaborated with Campus IT and Amazon Web Services to create and launch the first Archivematica platform on the AWS cloud. Archivematica is a web- and standards-based application that allows our institution to prepare long-term access to trustworthy, authentic, and reliable digital content.
With programs like these the App State Libraries are trailblazing the path for other universities to deploy this new open-source solution, which was deployed last August, and Vanderbilt University followed soon after.
