Bettie Bond awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine

Library Advisory Council Member, Bettie Bond, in a surprise (to her) ceremony was awarded North Carolina’s highest honor, the Order of the Long Leaf Pine.

Bettie has been on an award winning streak this summer.  She was the grand marshal of the Boone Fourth of July Parade and received the 1872 Award, which honors residents and organizations that have shown innovation, preservation, service, and tradition and have made outstanding contributions to the town of Boone.

"Bettie Bond is the absolute embodiment of energy and engagement.  I've known Bettie a long time both professionally and personally.  I admire her dedication to all the many projects she has her hands in.  We are blessed to have her support in the University Libraries.  She's our greatest cheerleader so we will lend her out occasionally, but we plan to keep her." said Lynn Patterson, Public Relations and Outreach coordinator for the University Libaries.
