Employee Appreciation Committee Awards

The EAC Awards provide the perfect opportunity to recognize an individual, team, committee, or group of library faculty or staff for their great work during the past academic year.  Below please find the award winners for 2022-2023:

 Appalachian Spirit - Kelly Rhodes

The Appalachian Spirit Award is given to an individual who personifies the Appalachian Spirit of contributing to an encouraging work environment. According to her nomination she is supportive, approachable, and optimistic. One of the nominations literally said, “she is the sun that allows everyone on our team to bloom.” We can’t think of a better way to describe such an awesome coordinator and advocate of a positive work environment. In honor of her many contributions to a positive work environment over many successful years, the Appalachian Spirit Award was presented to Kelly Rhodes.

Mountain Mover - Hannah Pope

The Mountain Mover Award which is given to an individual who has gone above and beyond on an initiative that has elevated the service and standing of Appalachian State University Libraries. According to her nomination she is the Makerspace rock star. She has worked so hard to plan the Makerspace, get it opened, and keep it running from working with donors, picking out furniture, and training the folks that staff the Makerspace. Her nomination made it clear that “Makerspace is a point of pride for the libraries …and it would not exist without her vision and years of hard work.” This individual’s willingness to help others is why we presented this year’s Mountain Mover Award to Hannah Pope.

Group Award - RAM

The Group Award is given to a group or team who have gone above and beyond on an initiative that has elevated the service and standing of Appalachian State University Libraries. This award goes to a group that has made a difference in the library through their teamwork and collaboration. According to their nomination this team has so gracefully handled so much restructuring and stayed dedicated and focused on providing the best support to the University Libraries, faculty, staff, and students. This team’s ability to come together and provide the best support of our students, faculty, and staff is why we presented the Group Award to the Resource Acquisition and Management Team.
