Jewel Davis appointed chair of the 2026 Randolph Caldecott Award Selection Committee

Jewel Davis has been appointed to serve as chair of the 2026 Randolph Caldecott Award Selection Committee.  The Caldecott Medal, established in 1937, is one of the oldest and most highly regarded awards for children's book illustration in the United States. Presented annually by the American Library Association, it honors the artist of the most distinguished American picture book. This award not only recognizes artistic excellence but also influences the future of children's literature and impacts the lives of countless young readers.

This prestigious appointment is a testament to Jewel’s expertise and dedication to the field of children's literature. As chair of the committee, Jewel will lead 14 distinguished librarians from across the nation in evaluating and selecting the most outstanding picture books published in 2025.
