Library Employee Appreciation Committee - CeLIBration 2024 awards

The Employee Appreciation Committee held it's annual CeLIBration event on April 30th.  The event feature food, games and an opportunity for Library Faculty and staff to unwind before the busy exam season started.  The committee also acknowledged and awarded staff recognitions vote on by library personell

They  acknowledged University Libraries employees who reached milestone years of service this academic year. .
5 Years - Kristen Travis, Ross Cooper, Angela Howell, Anna Smith
10 Years - Daniel McCallister
20 Years- Dave Fletcher, Bill Pillow 

The group also gave EAC Awards.  The awards provide the perfect opportunity to recognize an individual, team, committee, or group of library faculty or staff for their great work during the past academic year. Below please find the award winners for 2022-2023:

Appalachian Spirit - Lynn Patterson
The Appalachian Spirit Award is given to an individual who personifies the Appalachian Spirit of contributing to an encouraging work environment.  Her nomination said, "This person consistently puts students first and her relationship with the kids is impressive. She knows them and cares about them. She is an excellent model of how to keep students at the center of our mission."

Mountain Mover - Alex Simpson
The Mountain Mover Award which is given to an individual who has gone above and beyond on an initiative that has elevated the service and standing of Appalachian State University Libraries.  The nominator said about Alex, "They opened a brand new University Library location, which is a huge accomplishment. I have worked on committees with Alex, and appreciate and value their perspective and insight. They bring immense value to our University Libraries' community.”

Group Award - Library Wellness Group (Sharon Taylor, Jonathan Priest, Georgie Donovan)
The Group Award is given to a group or team who have gone above and beyond on an initiative that has elevated the service and standing of Appalachian State University Libraries. This award goes to a group that has made a difference in the library through their teamwork and collaboration.  The nominatior said, "This group came together from three separate library "Teams," with a common purpose after seeing a need among their colleagues.  They recognized the importance of wellness in the workplace and made a plan to provide opportunities for employees to prioritize self care.  Their workshops have provided a safe and inclusive space for participants to explore and find wellness practices that resonate with their individual needs and interests.
