Molly Keener was named Associate Dean for Collections at the University Libraries. She will lead the Collection Management Services, Resource Acqusition Management, Digital Scholarship and Initiatives and the Special Collections Research Center, along with our Western North Carolina Library Network Librarian and Business Officer in our new organizational structure.

Previously, Molly was the Director of Digital Initiatives & Scholarly Communication at Wake Forest University's Z. Smith Reynolds Library, where she headed the department that supported faculty and students in exploring and expanding their concept of scholarship through work in digital scholarship, copyright and author rights, research data management, and open access advocacy.

“I am delighted to join the University Libraries and Appalachian State communities, and look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues to ensure that the libraries continue to provide collections and resources necessary to foster innovative scholarship and learning by our students, faculty, staff, and community members,” said Keener.

Outside of her professional work, Molly enjoys reading, bullet journaling, hiking, and going to baseball games with her husband, Greg Keener, and their son, Rex.
