After almost 39 years, Dianna Johnson will retire from the University Libraries. Her retirement date is June 1st. Her work with interlibrary loan and document delivery has ensured faculty and students are able to acquire the books, articles, primary sources, scores, and recordings they need for their research, their writing, and their academic assignments.
In the faculty focus groups that we ran last year, many participants reiterated their deep appreciation for interlibrary loan and Dianna’s support and expertise. Interlibrary loan was cited as the aspect of the Libraries that faculty value most highly, and her particular dedication is often called out by faculty members when they write the acknowledgements for their books.
With her English major from App State and experience in the public library, she was readily hired. In the Libraries, she began in processing and book repair, including adding the physical cards into the card catalog for new books when they were ready. In the departments of circulation and then interlibrary loan, she was always known as a hard worker and bright – able to work in multiple foreign languages and formats. She has been able to track down some of the most rare and unusual documents in the world’s libraries for our patrons.
Please join us in congratulating Dianna for her decades-long work with the University Libraries!
