National Library Week
This year's National Library Week theme is "Find Your Joy" with Mychal Threets as Honorary Chair. There are so many incredible and fun ways of enjoying the library, and we're excited to share some of what we did with the students, faculty, and staff next week.
The Libraries organized several active and passive programming events to celebrate! Please see our NLW libguide for full details.
For events, we hosted a Silent Book Club, as well as a Joy of the Hunt Scavenger Hunt on Monday. On Tuesday, we had a second Scavenger Hunt and a Joy in Making Makerspace Pop-up. Wednesday, we are hosted a Joy in Gardening event in which we provide seed planting materials and highlight some of our books on gardening and plants. On Thursday, we're partnered with Campus Dining to provide an event on the Joy in Cooking which highlights recipes from our Special Collection; Campus Dining has graciously made sample sizes of one of the recipes. Notably, on Friday, we had a "Literary Dress Up Day" for library employees. Also featured were awesome coloring poster of Freddie (compliments of the amazing Adam Baldwin).
We are also hosted the Watauga County Public Library van on Sanford Mall on Wednesday, April 22. The public library signed up students, faculty, and staff for public library cards.
Thank you to all our library workers who make Appalachian State University Libraries central to the university, Boone, Hickory, and surrounding communities. Also, a special thank you to the Planning Committee, Rebecca Shaw, Alex Simpson, Leigh Barnes, Celine Shay, Hannah Pope, Sia Estep, and Emma Sobczak Schell
