Request a Hold

Place a request using the library catalog and we'll send the book to any university library location and hold it at the desk for you.

  1. Search Library Search for the title you want. Students, faculty, and staff can request books from App State or other UNC system schools (NC A&T, UNCA, and WCU).

Start your Library Search using the main search box on the library homepage

  2. Choose the title of the item you want to see its full record.

Select the item title to open the full record and see request options

  3. Look for the Find or Request section, and Sign In if you see a gold prompt like the one below. If you are already signed in, skip to Step 4.

If you're not already signed into Library Search, there will be a Sign In link in the Find or Request section.

  4. In the Find or Request section, choose either Request or Borrow from another UNC System school. "Request" is the fastest option and only appears for items that App State owns. You can use "Borrow from another UNC system school" if App State doesn't own the item or if our copy is checked out.

Multiple options may appear in the Find or Request section: Request for items App State owns, and Borrow from another UNC system school for items owned by partner schools

  5. Select a pickup location and then choose Send Request. You'll get an email when your item is ready for pickup.

Choose your pickup location from the drop-down.
