If you need a book or article the library does not own, you can request it using interlibrary loan (ILL). We will borrow the item from another library for you.

Delivery time ranges from 2 days to 2 weeks. Articles usually arrive faster than books since most are delivered electronically.

ILLiad is the online system for requesting an interlibrary loan.

To request an interlibrary loan:

  1. Make sure we don't already own the item.
    1. For books, search the catalog here to see if App State, UNCA, or WCU have the book. If so, just use the Request button in the catalog. If not, request an interlibrary loan.
    2. For articles, search for the article title using the article search on our homepage. If the article is listed but you can't get the full text, try the gold "Find@ASU" link. If that doesn't work, request an interlibrary loan.

  2. Log in to ILLiad using your App State username and password.

  3. Use the New Request option in the sidebar to place your request. You don't have to fill out every field, but we definitely need the title, author, date, and journal title and volume/issue (for articles).
