About this service

The Digital Media Studio is an open multimedia lab for the Appalachian State University Boone campus.  The purpose of the DMS is to provide access to current software and hardware, but most of all we provide help using digital media tools and technologies.

Digital Media Studio

The Digital Media Studio is on the Lower Level of Belk Library and Information Commons in front of the Tech Desk where the Film/DVD collection used to be. See the library floor plans for the Lower Level map.

Instruction and Tours

Collaborate with instructors to create custom multimedia assignments. Take advantage of our multimedia instruction for your class. We also offer specialty Audio and Video rooms, Technology Checkout, Digital Media Studio and Tours to support your instruction.

Session Types

  • Basic Video Editing: We explore the basic techniques required for video editing. In our workshops we cover importing media, trimming clips, transitions, titles, audio levels, exporting and publishing. In most classes we begin with iMovie, but we also offer Adobe Premiere for more advanced classes.
  • Basic Audio Editing: We explore the basic techniques required for audio editing. In our workshops we cover recording techniques, importing media, trimming clips, volume adjustments, key framing, audio loops, background music, saving and exporting. In most classes we use GarageBand.
  • Custom Workshops: We offer a wide range of workshops based on your needs. Past examples include custom timeline software, professional portfolios with WIX, recording in powerpoint and Screencast-o-matic. Just meet with us and we can help determine the best hardware and software for your multimedia needs.
