About this service
The Belk Library and Information Commons has a makerspace! The Inspire Maker Lab is located on the Lower Level behind the Digital Media Studio in the former location of the Writing Center. If you need help locating the makerspace, ask the Tech Desk. Check out our full guide for the Inspire Maker Lab.
What is a Makerspace?
A makerspace is a place where users of all skill levels can come together to bring their ideas to life by “making” things. Students, faculty and staff at Appalachian State University will be able to use the space to access tools, learn new skills, and create things both for academic and personal use. A variety of workshops will be provided for those who want to learn more about our maker options.
Equipment
We have the following tools, machines, and materials available for use. Click on a machine for more information!
Need help?
A student worker will be in the makerspace to help with immediate needs. If you have a more complex project or a detailed question, please feel free to email Hannah Pope. We are happy to help you through email or to meet in person for a consultation.
Instruction and Tours
Faculty can request tours or workshops for their students on 3D printing, laser cutting, robotics, and electronics. Workshops can be tailored to specific assignments. To request a tour, instruction session, or consultation, use the Technology Instruction Request form.
