We were honored and pleased to host our 13th annual University Libraries Student Employee Scholarship Luncheon on Friday, September 5 in room 421 of Belk Library.
Our scholarship program was established in 2008 and our Library Advisory Council supported the program by funding three, $500 scholarships as our initial awards. As part of our commitment to student success, we now fundraise for library student scholarships which are $1500 per year. We awarded 27 scholarships this year, most of which are funded by our Library Advisory Council members and other generous donors. Since the program began, we have awarded over $333,000.00 to 233 students.
During our program, our student speaker was Lily Tunstall who works at the Night Access Desk where her supervisor is Russell Page. Our donor response was delivered by Library Advisory Council Member, Greg Hamlyn.
"Our Luncheon is one of the highlights of my year as Dean of Libraries," said Dean Sue Polanka. "It is always exciting to gather our donors and community members who invested in our committment to the success of our students. "
