Congratulations to Bright Uwakwe – 2025 Top of the Rock

We’re thrilled to celebrate Bright Uwakwe, who was named 2025 Top of the Rock during the Homecoming football game at Appalachian State University!

Bright is an exceptional member of the University Libraries and our campus community.  Bright works at the Reference Desk as a library student employee, serves on the Student Library Advisory Board, and being the proud recipient of the Emma Horton Moore Endowed Scholarship.

"Top of the Rock" is a cherished Homecoming tradition at App State, honoring students who exemplify what it truly means to be a Mountaineer. Bright was nominated by his peers for being an outstanding representative of our community. He submitted an application with four essays, participated in an interview process, and earned his place on the Homecoming Court.

During the halftime show, Bright was escorted onto the field by two of his close friends for the big moment.  When his name was announced as the winner, Bright shined with his signature excitement and contagious smile.  A true Bright moment!

We are beyond proud of you, Bright. Your dedication, positivity, and Mountaineer spirit inspire us all.

Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!
