The University Libraries awarded 31 scholarships for the 2026-2027 school year. The selection committee, consisting of Diana Beasley, Kelly Burkett, Martha Marking, Scott Rice and Lynn Patterson, Ex Officio, reported a record number of excellent applications.
The 2026-27 class of 31 recipients is the largest since the program’s beginning in 2008 thanks to generous donations from our Library supporters and friends.
Library Student Employee Scholarships are renewable permitting the student remains employed with the University Libraries in good standing.

Our Returning Endowment Scholarship recipients for the 2026-2027 academic year are:
The Nicki Lynn Turner Memorial Scholarship selected on Scholars Day to a deserving incoming First Year student was awarded to Kate Reece.
The Emma Horton Moore Scholarship is our highest paying scholarship and one of our most prestigious was awarded to Bright Uwakwe.
The Randy and Sara Charles Stevens Scholarship has a higher pay out and is earmarked for first generation scholarships who live in the Appalachian Region. The Scholarship was awarded to Anna Dishman.
The Drs. Mary Reichel and Rao Aluri scholarships were awarded to Jazmyn Mason and Nicolas Reid.
New endowment scholarship recipients for the 2026-2027 academic year are:
Barbara and Larry Freiman Endowment Scholarships were awarded to Mariella Derwart, Maddie Dulin, and Kamryn McGuirt.
The Broyhill Family Endowment Scholarship was awarded to Autumn Gardner.
The John and Bettie Bond Endowment Scholarship was awarded to Daisy Tunstall.
