Please join us in congratulating Veronica Wells who has accepted the position of Director of the Music Library and Music Librarian. Her first day will be September 1, 2026.
Veronica has a strong history in music and music librarianship, stemming from her early college years where she earned a BA in Music and later earned two masters degrees in Library Science and the History of Musicology, while working in the Mills Music Library at the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
Veronica joined the Appalachian State University Libraries in the Fall of 2023 and served as an adjunct and lecturer in the Special Collections Research Center. She has been the Associate Dean for Learning and Research since March of 2025. Before joining Appalachian State University, she was the liaison to the Conservatory of Music at the University of the Pacific for 13 years.
The opportunity to lead the Nicholas Erneston Music Library combines her passion for music librarianship with her commitment to collaborative leadership and student success.
She has served on many university committees and Music Library Association (MLA) committees, where she is currently the chair of MLA’s Public Services Committee.
Highlights of her scholarly contributions include a reference book on the history of the American music industry, and The Music Companion to the Framework for Information Literacy. Her research portfolio also includes eight peer-reviewed articles, two book chapters, 23 regional, national, and international conference presentations, and two poster presentations.
Thank you to the search committee for their work: Georgie Donovan, Jill Eller, Emily Kader (co-chair), Laurie Semmes (School of Music), and Rebecca Shaw (co-chair).
