Library Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the Erneston Music Library in the Broyhill Music Building
  • Teaches Music Research for Performers (graduate)
  • Performs in-depth reference service in music
  • Manages the collection development of the Music Library collection, which includes books, scores, and audio-visual materials for classical, world, and popular music
  • Curates the Max Smith Collection in the Special Collection Research Center, including the Matanya Ophee Collection

  • The history of plucked string instruments from the 16th Century to the present, focusing primarily on the Baroque guitar, classical guitar, and lute
  • The guitar in the United States in the 19th Century
  • Film Exhibition in Northwestern North Carolina
  • The history of country music, especially bluegrass music from the 1940s to 1970s
  • Performs on guitar and other plucked stringed instruments in various local ensembles
