How to borrow items
You can check out books and other items from any App State library location. Just bring your AppCard to the desk or a self-check kiosk.
For help searching for books and finding where they are shelved, see How to Find Books or stop by the desk.
How to check and extend due dates
Log in to your library account to see what you have checked out and renew items (extend the due dates). You can also stop by the library desk or call 828-262-2818.
How to return items
Most items can be returned to any campus book drop. You don't need to bring them to the desk. If you're out of town you can return items by mail. There are important exceptions:
- Technology items cannot be placed in book drops or returned by mail. They must be returned in person to the desk from which they were borrowed.
- Rental textbooks from the university bookstore cannot be returned to the library. Review the Bookstore website or call 828-262-3070 x 19 for instructions on textbook returns.
How to request items
You can request:
- Holds - Items can be pulled from the shelves at App State, UNCA, or WCU and held at any App State library desk for you.
- Items we don't own - Get books and articles delivered from other libraries using interlibrary loan (ILL)
- Delivery - Faculty can request delivery to their department and distance/doctoral students can have books mailed to their home
