Service Status

Belk Library is open on a limited schedule until summer classes begin. See the hours calendar for building and service desk hours.

Individual departments and service hours vary, especially when classes are not in session, so check the service status page or contact the library for more information.

The Instructional Materials Center is open when Belk Library is open, so check the library hours calendar for operating hours during the semester. Hours for research assistance vary; please call us at 828-262-2790 if you have questions.

Hours for the Summer: Tuesday- Friday, 10am – 4pm for the Browsable Stacks / Reading Room. Archives and Rare Books research available during open hours by appointment only, 10am – 4pm, Tuesday-Friday.

Closed each Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, and during graduation and University Holidays. Check the Special Collections hours calendar.

App State students, faculty, and staff can access library databases from home even when the library is closed.

All library users may pick up holds at the library service desk during the service desk operating hours. Faculty can have items delivered to their department on campus. Doctoral and online students can have items mailed to their home.

Belk Library’s Food Pantry is located on the second floor in Room 222 and is open any time the library is open.

You can use My Account to view your checked-out items and renew materials even when the library is closed. Log into My Account with your university username and password.

You can request items from App State and other libraries using Library Search. Find out how to place requests.

Research consultations (formerly called RAP sessions) are conducted online (via Zoom) or in-person and can be scheduled by requesting an appointment.

If you forget to return your materials before leaving campus during breaks, you can renew them online via My Account, mail them back to us, or return them to one of our remote book drops. Items checked out from the Technology Checkout Desk cannot be returned by mail or in the book drop. They must be returned in person.
